Mr. Smith is a founding partner and Managing Director of SSG Capital Advisors, LLC. He has over 25 years experience as an investment banker and a commercial lender with a particular emphasis on restructuring and special situations transactions. Mr. Smith has guided numerous U.S. and European middle market companies through complex financial restructurings, sale transactions, and private placements. He has advised companies across a broad spectrum of industries including food, branded consumer products, financial services, biotech/pharmaceutical, and heavy manufacturing. In each case, Mr. Smith has utilized his extensive knowledge of the financial markets and restructuring strategies to provide insightful guidance to clients, thereby maximizing results and stakeholder value. Prior to reacquiring SSG from National City/PNC in May 2009, he was a Managing Director of the Special Situations Group of National City Investment Banking which acquired SSG in August 2006. From 2001 to 2006, Mr. Smith was a Managing Director and founding partner of SSG Capital Advisors, LP. Prior to his transition into investment banking in 2001, he was a senior executive with CIT Business Credit, most recently serving as Manager of CIT's Northeast Region of the country, responsible for managing over a $1 billion loan portfolio comprised of loans to middle market companies. He is a member of the Turnaround Management Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute. Mr. Smith has advised the following clients:
