The Peer Group, Inc. (“Peer Group” or the “Company”), is a leading firm providing physician education all over the U.S. on behalf of major pharmaceutical clients.
Situation
The privately-held Company experienced unprecedented growth in revenue and profitability in 2004 and its owner desired to capitalize on that growth and the strong M&A market by selling the business. SSG and its co-advisor, Ewing Bemiss & Company, were engaged to test the market and sell The Peer Group to provide the owner with the liquidity a healthy company can obtain in today’s marketplace.
Solution
After attracting several offers with significant valuations, a newly-formed investment platform, Informed Medical Communications, Inc., formed by Ferrer, Freeman & Company and Frazier Healthcare Ventures, was chosen as the buyer and the stock sale closed in January, 2005
