SSG Capital Advisors, LLC

2019 Half-Year in Review and Outlook
for Middle Market Restructuring Opportunities

The first half of 2019 proved to be particularly busy at SSG as we closed 13 special situation transactions across multiple industries. We delivered bespoke solutions for clients, turning complex situations into positive results that maximized value for all shareholders. In addition, we preserved jobs, connected challenged companies with new investors and lenders, and helped middle-market businesses to survive. Many deals were a collective effort and we were pleased to partner with a variety of other firms and professionals to complete transactions and assist our clients.

As the transaction list grew, so did our firm and we added four new investment banking professionals (see below). Along the way, SSG and our professionals were recognized for outstanding transaction execution and individual recognition. In addition, our thought leaders continued to support the industry through speaking engagements and supporting restructuring organizations.

We see many restructuring opportunities for the remainder of the year in the healthcare, oilfield services, tech, food and beverage, and retail sectors. The large number of highly-levered businesses suggests opportunities in the near term for restructuring professionals and distressed investors. The amount of capital available to lower middle market companies is staggering, as is the amount of leverage being put on balance sheets. As a result, there is an abundance of work for restructuring professionals in our market as mid- to lower-middle market companies are the first to experience problems with the slightest of causes. We are currently engaged in a large number of new assignments including the high-profile Center City Healthcare, LLC, and St. Christopher's Hospital for Children Chapter 11 cases.
