J. Scott Victor Named Individual Contributor of the Year by TMA

We are pleased to announce that the Turnaround Management Association has chosen J. Scott Victor, founding partner and managing director, SSG Capital Advisors, LLC as a recipient of the 2012 TMA Outstanding Contributor of the Year award. Each year, TMA recognizes members who raise the public profile of the corporate restructuring industry through their volunteer service and dedication to the organization.

“Scott has had a great impact on the TMA and we are very grateful for his dedication. Over the years, he has played an integral role in furthering the mission of the TMA at both the chapter level in Philadelphia and the global level,” said Thomas M. Kim, CTP, TMA President and managing director and founder of r2 advisors, llc, in announcing the award. He will be recognized during an awards lunch at The 2013 TMA Senate on May 14-16 in Chicago, Illinois.

A tireless advocate of TMA, Scott has a long history of volunteerism at the local, regional and global level. He has held 45 TMA leadership positions at the global and chapter level, including member-at-large and VP of chapter relations and the very first vice president of conferences for the TMA Global Board of Trustees, member-at-large for the TMA Global Executive Board, VP of conferences for the TMA Global Board of Directors, past chairman and past president of the TMA Philadelphia Chapter, and many more.

Scott has become one of TMA’s key leaders through diligent effort, forging connections and demonstrating strong leadership with a direct, honest approach. He not only makes extraordinary contributions to the industry as a restructuring professional, he also shares his network, expertise and knowledge with other TMA members. He is a frequent educational program organizer, moderator and panelist.

A founding partner and managing director of SSG Capital Advisors, a leading national boutique middle market special situations investment banking firm, Scott has 30 years of experience in representing companies in Chapter 11 proceedings, workouts and restructurings and is an expert in the restructuring, refinancing, and sale of middle-market companies. He has completed over 150 sale, financing and restructuring transactions since his transition from law to investment banking in 2000. Scott is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy, a member of the Board of Directors of both American Bankruptcy Institute and New York Institute of Credit and has won numerous personal and firm awards. Under his leadership, SSG is a strong supporter of TMA and other insolvency industry associations.
